CATHAY PACIFIC TAPS MANDARIN ORIENTAL CHEFS FOR FIRST CLASS FARE

Forget cold sandwiches and bad salads, bring on the prime rib. Cathay Pacific has teamed up with the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group to provide First Class passengers flying between Hong Kong and Tokyo, San Francisco, New York, Boston, London, or Paris with first class fare. After a successful trial run, Mandarin Oriental chefs from around the world were given free reign to design a menu inspired by their location, with all dishes made using the freshest local ingredients and world class cooking techniques. Guests will be treated to New York Chef Christian Pratsch’s upscale version of tomato soup, featuring slow roasted heirloom tomatoes accompanied by tiny grilled cheese sandwiches. Hong Kong’s Uwe Opocensky challenges diners to try an old-fashioned consommé paired with a gold flakes and dried flower-filled tea bag. The celebrated Paris Chef Thierry Marx also riffs on a classic dish with his presse of chicken, foie gras, and mushrooms flavored with Chinese Five Spice. Prime rib, deconstructed beef stew, and a myriad of beautiful desserts round out this decadently delicious new menu.
