German Designed Lampuga the world's Fastest Electric Surfboard

Once the domain of a select few products like the Powerski Jetboard, the powered surfboard market has really grown over the past year. During that time, we've seen the underwhelming Waterwolf, the promising, multi-personality Aquila, and the Radinn surfboards. The German-designed Lampuga joins the crowd, bringing with it speeds up to 34 mph (55 km/h) and claims of being the world's fastest e-surfboard.

The electric jet propulsion system is quiet so it won’t disturb animals or people. Due to its light weight, it is easy to transport and since it uses batteries, any dangers involved with liquid based fuels is eliminated. The Lampuga is controlled by a steering belt which also carries the accelerator throttle. It is attached to the bow of the board, providing a secure connection and full control. If you happen to lose control, an automated emergency stop mechanism will ensure that the power to the engine is shut off instantaneously.

The engine of the surfboard delivers 15 hp directly to the water. The board is 8’5” long, 2’7” wide and weighs only 86 pounds. On a full charge the battery can last about 20-35 minutes. Battery duration, speed and range depend on various factors. The Lampuga can be charged at any standard household power outlet. Priced at $17,400, Lampuga is currently being displayed at the Dusselfdorf Boat Show. It has set up a dealership network in various European countries and the US.
