Virtual reality is no longer confined to video games. In Australia, a father was able to follow the birth of her son live with a virtual reality helmet.
Professional commitment required Jason Larke to go to 4000 kilometers from home, while his wife Alison was about to give birth to their third child. Terrible news for the couple.

Through a virtual reality helmet, Jason Larke could watch the birth live from the town of Chinchilla, in the province of Queensland, "almost as [he was] in the room" with his wife, in Perth. The birth of Steele, February 20, was filmed by several cameras to create a virtual reality effect. Jason could look in every corner of the hospital room, interact with his wife and the medical team. "I think he looks like you," said the father, moved to his wife holding the baby in her arms.

This beautiful story is told in a video aired Saturday by Samsung. The Korean manufacturer has put Gear VR helmet technology for both parents. A nice publicity stunt for the company that is in full promotion of this model, the first virtual reality helmet marketed to the public. If the video is a little tears, pulls, remains that the technology is impressive accuracy.
