You need to communicate with a device from outside your home network? Be it a camera or a computer, the No-IP service allows you to assign a URL to an IP, even local.
Normally, on your local network, devices and computers on your wired or wireless box have their own IP rated like this 192.168.1.XX. The problem is that it is not possible to access these IP from outside your network, as they are known only to your box: it's local IP.
How then have access to a surveillance camera when you are not home? Just actually "map" the IP of your box so that it corresponds to a domain name, for example http://idpresse.ddns.net. It will then redirect requests to this address on the local IP to access your hardware.
How to map an IP address with No-IP?
Step 1:
On the main page of the site, made Sign Up and create your account. Choose your domain name and choose the free solution.
Activate your account by clicking on the link sent by email. Make "Download Update Client" and install this small software to find your IP even if it is dynamic. Start the UCR and enter your credentials. From there, the domain name that you chose will redirect to the IP of your box.
Step 2:
Now open your browser and type 192.168.1.1 to access the settings of your box. After entering your password subscribers, you will have the list of devices connected to your box and their IP. Note the IP of the device you want to attach. Then the names of the settings may vary between ISPs box but head for Translation or NAT ports.
Step 3:
Put the IP of your device in the destination IP and port 80 externally and destination. Select TCP as the protocol and confirm. Create another translation with the same IP if you wish. Now, the domain name you've chosen will lead to the device you have chosen. Note that the free version of No-IP allows you to map up to three IP with different domain names.
