While BioWare declared not to provide solo DLC for Dragon Age Inquisition, the success of the game, the players and demand has prompted them to change their plans. Regardless, I was one of the first to call for downloadable content for the game, but must still they are of quality. Rest assured, BioWare has not taken this content lightly, and offers first DLC good.
In Crocs Hakkon, the Inquisitor will leave in the footsteps of his predecessor, who died 800 years ago. The opportunity to shed light on obscure events of the past, and learn more about the first Inquisition. On site, you will meet a group of Alvars appointed the Crocs Hakkon whose purpose is to awaken their Dieur-Dragon: Hakkon. This DLC is now available on Xbox One and PC, priced at 15 euros / dollars. The expansion will be available on other consoles in May, 2015.
A new area to explore
For this first extension, BioWare does not simply add quests in a pre-existing zone. A completely new environment was created for the occasion, southwest of Ferelden. This area is a mix of forest with huge trees, cliffs, beaches and ruins. To summarize, you will have what to do next exploration. The area is vast and beautiful, and enjoys a level design always well built. In addition to the main quest, side quests few are also present, not to mention the items to collect, or places to requisition. BioWare had the good sense to provide improved versions of the most powerful equipment in the game, but also some unpublished.
New enemies are also present, the Crocs Hakkon, they are not to be underestimated and represent a challenge for players who have reached level, or higher. Indeed, the enemies of this area shall be at least level 20, and if your Inquisitor is at a higher level, the enemies will be at his level, so the difficulty remains. This entry has not only advantages, but I will return later. You will also discover a new faction ally, a tribe wishing Alvar help you overcome your new enemy.
A new chapter in the Dragon Age universe to discover
BioWare has understood, players want to know more about the Dragon Age universe. This extension allows the studio to explore a new side of this universe through the history of these Alvars tribes and the legacy of the Inquisitor Ameridan. The Alvar culture is quite interesting and allows a different perspective on many facets of the world of Dragon Age, including spirits, and the concept of divinity. The architecture of the buildings, statues, or village is also involved in the scope of the universe. BioWare has not been content to copy and paste existing elements, but created new ones. We discover the origins of pleasure Ameridan, beliefs and his staff history. These elements provide food for thought to be linked with the epilogue of Dragon Age Inquisition, which is a good thing!
Some small mistakes
The first DLC is not flawless, I found two. The first is the difficulty I find poorly managed. Until now, I had no difficulty in overcoming the enemies in the game, and I rarely had recourse to tactical pause. This is consistent with the level of difficulty that I had selected. Here I can not count the times my Inquisitor was alone group survivor after a fierce battle. I'm not against a higher difficulty, but it was not in line with the general difficulty that I had chosen. It's a shame, but not crippling.
The second flaw I raised concerns a new gameplay element added to the end of the DLC. You must return regularly around braziers to not die of cold, forcing you to move quickly in this area, lest your health meter decline rapidly. The idea is "interesting", but in the state, it does not work, and I do not understand the interest in terms of game design, especially when applied to a rather difficult bosses, making it more difficult fight fun.
Conclusion
The first DLC is a great success, despite some minor flaws come tarnish the experience. BioWare has taken care to make this new area both beautiful, successful in terms of level design, while filling quests, stories and interesting elements. If like me you have already completed Dragon Age Inquisition in every direction, then this DLC is for you, especially if the desire to return to the world of Thedas itchy. It remains to hope that the next solo game content will be as good or even better quality!
