You have a machine running Windows and an Android smartphone, and you need a microphone? No need to spend money because your smartphone can do micro office, free of charge. Of course, the quality will not be optimal, but this free solution will suffice in many cases.
To achieve this, we will use the application WO Mic which comes in Windows software and an application for Android. The advantage is you can use the micro USB, Bluetooth as well as Wi-Fi!
In this tutorial, I use a machine with Windows 8.1 and an Android smartphone Lollipop 5.1. Finally, the connection will be made via Wi-Fi, which means that both hosts are connected on the same network.
Prepare Windows
Start by downloading the files required for installation: WO Mic
Download the client for the PC, as well as the driver that will emulate a microphone in the devices and enable the use of the microphone in third party applications.
Install client software first ...
Then the driver ...
It is necessary to reboot the machine at the end of the driver installation. Meanwhile, enjoy the tutorial to continue making the smartphone configuration.
Android preparation
From your smartphone (or tablet) Android, download the application WO Mic from the Play Store: Android WO Mic
Access the application once it is installed, and press the "Settings" button.
At the mode "Transport" choose "WiFi", the smartphone is connected to a wireless network. Note that the application works using ports 8125 and 8126, and uses the microphone smartphone as a source.
Confirm the settings, and click "Start" to enter the application waiting for a connection. The microphone should go green.
I want to clarify that for use in USB mode, the "USB Debug mode" must be active on the smartphone.
It only remains to connect the PC to the smartphone to enjoy the microphone!
On the PC, launch the Client WO Mic, like this:
We open a new connection (Connect), and Wi-Fi is selected while specifying the IP address of the smartphone. To get the IP address of the smartphone, it's simple, it is indicated on the application interface, eg 192.168.1.23.
Click OK, and once the connection is established, you can begin to speak normally the sound should come out from the speakers of the PC! To stop the microphone and close the client application on Windows, you must log out first.
This simple solution allows to enjoy a micro via different connection modes, which is rather interesting. The latency between the smartphone and the PC is low, which is not too bothersome.
What bothers me a bit more with this application is the amount of advertising that I find quite important. Know that there is a pro version available at 3.90 €.
Did you already know WO Mic? What do you think?
