You can pre-order the first Steam Machine

SteamOS is a Linux-based operating system designed around the popular gaming platform from Valve, Steam. It has been under development for several years, and you can download and install a beta version of the platform on your own computer to create what the company called a "Steam Machine".

But if you want to buy a PC with pre-installed steamOS, well now you can finally do it. Or at least, you can pre-order one. Please note that the PC does not arrive to you before October 16.

The first two machines appear Steam pre-orders are the Dell Alienware Steam Machine, and Syber CyberPower PC Steam Machine. These are both relatively small desktops with prices starting respectively at 449 and 499 dollars.

If these computers look more like that of a traditional desktop gaming console, it's intentional. They are designed to hang in your living room next to the TV.

The entry-level models are still reasonably strong, with features like an Intel Core i3 chip Haswell, an NVIDIA graphics chip, and at least 4GB of RAM and 500GB of internal storage. By spending more you can get up to 8GB of RAM, up to 1TB of internal storage, a better graphics card, and up to an Intel Core i7 processor.

More PC makers such as Zotac, Gigabyte, Falcon Northwest, Origin and iBuyPower will start taking orders for their Steam Machines in the coming months.

Valve will also be pre-ordered now for $ 50 its Steam Controller, which is a joystick designed to allow you to play many PC games without touching a keyboard and its Steam Link to 50 dollars, which is a box you can plug into your TV and to your network, so you can run games from a PC in another room.
