Google introduced Chromebooks low cost for education

Google and several computer manufacturers have introduced a new range of laptops Chrome OS, highlighting a quad-core processor Rockchip RK3288 based on the ARM architecture, and extremely low prices.

In fact, Haier and Hisense have both launched new Chromebooks at prices starting at 149 dollars. Nevertheless, this is not the first laptops Chrome OS to have a ARM chip. Samsung has launched a range of Chromebooks with its own Exynos processor it a few years ago, and there are a few models on the market right now with NVIDIA Tegra chips.

Rockchip RK3288 but offers a relatively strong performance, with relatively low prices. In other words, this makes it an interesting choice for affordable laptops. So far, the processor has been used primarily for Android tablets and TV box.

Here are some of the first Chromebooks launched with Rockchip processor.

Asus C201 Chromebook

At first glance, the Asus C201 Chromebook looks much like the Asus C200 Chromebook. But under the hood of this model, we find the Rockchip processor rather than Intel Bay Trail chip.

Other features include a screen with a resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels, 16GB of internal storage, and a choice of 2 or 4 GB of RAM. Asus promises that the laptop will have 13 hours of battery life.


The Asus C201 Chromebook will be available in May for a price starting at 169 dollars.

Asus Chromebook Flip

Asus is also launching a new convertible PC Chrome OS, which has a touch screen 10 points with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, you can rotate 360 degrees for use as a tablet.


Chromebook Flip measure 1.52 cm thick, and weighs about 907 g. This model should be available this spring for $ 249 for a model with 2 GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Asus also market a version for $ 279 with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.


Both models feature Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0.

CTL Chromebooks for Education

CTL sells laptops for the education market for years, but this is the first Chromebook of the company with a processor based on ARM architecture.

Chromebooks for Education has 16GB eMMC storage, stereo speakers 1.5W, an HDMI port, two USB 2.0 ports, connectivity WiFi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac, a camera of 1.3 megapixel and a battery of 3400 mAh which should provide up to 9 hours of battery life. It also has Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, a port for a micro-SD card, and a headphone jack.

It weighs 1.11 kg and a thickness of 1.93 cm. The company will offer two models, a version for $ 179 with 2 GB of RAM, and a version for $ 209 with 4GB of RAM.

CTL said the Chromebook for Education is available from today, and the 2GB model should be shipped in April and the 4GB version is expected in mid-May.

Haier Chromebook 11

The first Chromebook Chinese manufacturer Haier has a 11.6 inch screen, Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity, Bluetooth 4.0 and a battery that provides up to 10 hours.

The laptop has two USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI port, a headphone jack, and a port for SD cards. We will also have a 720p camera, stereo speakers and a microphone.

Chromebook Haier measure 28.95 x 11 x 1.77 20.57 cm and weighs 1.13 kg. This model is available for pre-order on Amazon for $ 149.

Hisense Chromebook

The first Chromebook Hisense is another laptop priced at 149 dollars. The laptop has 2 GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, Wi-Fi 802.11ac connectivity, Bluetooth, an HDMI port, two USB 2.0 ports, an SD card reader, a headphone jack, and a 720p webcam.

Hisense Chromebook described her as a high-end laptop that costs only $ 149, noting that it provides in a metal frame, a real keyboard, and a rugged construction.

Google specifies that new devices from companies like Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo or LG will soon be launched.
