Apple Plans: navigation in public transport arrives

Google is not the only actor want to improve its navigation offering. The sources relate to 9to5Mac that Apple plans to launch Transit, a public transportation mapping service with iOS 9. The company had intended to unveil the feature at WWDC 2014, but many bugs have forced the team to remove it at the last second.

Transit, such as Google Maps and Nokia Here, integrate bus schedules, subway, and train directly into Apple Plans. A new vision of Transit will be offered on the standard view, or hybrid satellite / Flyover. In addition, route planning, taking into account public transport will have its own interface. 9to5Mac sources indicate that Transit will enlarge the icons of airports and train stations for easy viewing during navigation.

Apple makes every effort to avoid another fiasco with Maps, Transit delay up even after including in the internal distribution of iOS 8 last summer. This choice was made in the interest of the company based in Cupertino. This further work would have to solve technical and logistical problems have refined the data, adding new cities while developing a new system of push notifications that will inform users when new cities bear New says 9to5Mac. Some of these improvements probably occur through the acquisition of multiple companies over the past two years, such as those behind Embark, HopStop and Locationary for undisclosed amounts.

Apple Plans: upcoming news ...

Regarding the other news of Apple maps, high-resolution images and the navigation of large buildings, offices, points of interest might be included in a future update. The company is equipped with specially equipped vans to capture images of streets, and sources tell 9to5Mac that a new version of maps, tentatively scheduled for late this year or early next, will include navigation in inside the main buildings, offices and points of interest. Apple apparently relies on autonomous robots equipped with sensors ibeacon like the iRobot Roomba, to map the interior - they are currently being tested in the offices of the company.

To return to Transit, Apple has long redirected users to third-party services for planning public transit routes. With the next major release of iOS, the company could finally put this temporary measure aside once and for all. WWDC 2015 in June is likely to be exciting.
