Detect the WiFi squatters with your Android Smartphone

From the time that I'm talking about the security of your Wi-Fi network, we saw how to crack a WiFi network and how to protect against intrusion attempts. But to be sure that your network has not fallen into the wrong hands, I suggest you to discover Fing.

Fing is a very simple Android application. It scans your network at regular intervals to see which devices or computers that connect to it. For each device, the application provides the IP address, MAC address and name on the network and its manufacturer. It is even possible to know whether it is a smartphone or a computer.

With Fing, it is possible to assign to the machine a new name that will replace its hostname (hostname) in the application interface. Convenient to easily identify an intruder.

Fing can detect an intruder, but not to put it on the door. Raise the MAC address for legal reasons and try to filter this address in the settings of your box.

To do this, open your browser and type 192.168.1.1. After entering your password subscriber you will have the list of devices connected to your box and their IP. Find the option to manage and enable MAC address filtering. Attention, it does not need to enable it before entering at least the address of the PC on which you make your adjustments.

By cons, you should know that a MAC address is easily falsifiable, and our intruder can come back if he is smart enough. I advise you to change your key or type of encryption. Choose WPA2 and find a sufficiently strong key. However all your connected devices will require this new password.
